It is prime example of the type of gas stations that were once plentiful along 'Route 66. Phillips 66 and Route 66 have special history together. Apparently, Phillips Petroleum became Phillips 66 after a group Phillips executives were driving home from meeting They had filled up their 1930's car with a new gasoline and surprised themselves when they realized they could now speed down the poad at 66 mph which was quite feat at the time. Phillips pitched this new gasoline' power to propel cars at 66 miles per hour and changed their name and logo to reflect this impressive claim ently roleum
